County Commissioner

I am delighted to advise you that I have appointed a new County Commissioner who will take up the post from 1st September 2010.

The new County Commissioner will be Russell Gibson who is an external appointment and not presently a member of The Scout Association. Russell has knowledge of Scouting many years ago as a Cub Scout, but he accepts that this is not sufficient for an in-depth knowledge of Scouting in the 21st Century! Russell currently lives in Plymouth with his family having recently retired from the Fleet Air Arm where he was an instructor responsible for the training of new recruits.

Contact details for Russell are presently being arranged and I will ensure that a further note is sent with appropriate telephone and email addresses in the next two weeks.

I am sure that you will join me in wishing Russell best wishes in this appointment and that you will provide him with the support he needs, not only as County Commissioner but as a new member to the family of Scouting.

Finally, I would like to thank you for your perseverance and support of both Roger Kirk and me whilst we have maintained this search and look forward to Russell continuing with the excellent progress that Sally had made during her term in this appointment, I would also like to thank Deborah Fox for her assistance during this challenging time.

Yours sincerely

Gordon Weston

Regional Commissioner - South West England

Woodlands 2010

Once again, The Devon County Scout Council is organising the annual Woodlands Camp. This is an excellent opportunity for Scouts of the scout section, from all over the County, to get together to have fun, catch up with old friends, and make some new ones.
