Devon Scouts are pleased to announce that once again we will be joining forces with F.O.G. to host the annual Aero camp. We have a limited number of places for older Scouts to attend this event, please note that It is for Scouts, Scouts must be older than 12yrs but not yet had their 14th birthday by the time of the event. This camp involves some technical work, so the lowest age recommendation is 12yrs
Please note that this weekend is for members of the Scout Section and they will be expected to wear their Uniform during the event, so please tell them to pack it!
Some key points:-
3 badges will be included Navigator, Meteorologist and air
Flight is not guaranteed and if we cannot fly over the weekend a replacement date is unlikely to be offered.
Some scouts may fly whilst others don't as it is weather dependent.
Leader flights are a lower priority than Scouts.
The weekend will take place at Bodmin Airfield in Cornwall.
Our air activities and training will be hosted by “FEET OFF THE GROUND”. These are the same pilots who have previously run the event.
Please note that being around aircraft is very dangerous and we expect all Scouts who attend, not only be capable of, but actually behave responsibly .
There will be a requirement for the young people to carry out some pre event work.Unfortunately, with such a popular event we have to restrict entries.
Each Troop can initially apply for as many places as they like, but in the event of oversubscribing, Troops may have their allocation cut back and the Leader will be requested to make the final choice of participants. Each application should also aim to provide supply at least 1 Leader to help with the running of the event, but we will consider applications from Troops that cannot supply a Leader for the event. The Scouts need not be from the same Troop - it’s your choice. Priority will be given to Scouts who have not previously attended this event. After the closing date, you will be notified of how many places you have been allocated.
The cost for the weekend will be £55 per Scout.(Leaders will be charged at £10 per head to cover catering and event logistics.) The Scouts will also get (weather permitting) at least ONE FREE flight. [Note to Leaders: No charge is made for any Aircraft Flights – as per the applicable rules [POR] and regulations [ANO] and no flights are guaranteed.]
Applications must be on the official form, which is available here and be received no later than 31st March 2017
PLEASE DO NOT SEND THE CAMP FEE UNTIL YOU KNOW HOW MANY PLACES YOU HAVE BEEN ALLOCATED!
