WelcomeKS welcomed everyone to the meeting and introductions were made.

The meeting would be split into 3 areas for discussion; Scout activities, meetings and the vacancy for the ACC role.

Scouting activitiesIt was acknowledged that Districts offer many activities of their own and that anything County planned, should be something that groups and Districts couldnít do themselves.

There are a large number of activities planned however the problem is finding someone to organise them as KS made it clear, this isnít the role of the ACC Scouts.

We were unable to run Tag Rugby but Della Turnball and Clive Deacon kindly stepped in to run Aerocamp.

It was agreed by those present that Woodlands camp, the Inter District Shooting competition and the cooking competition would run but not the Soap Box Challenge.

Brian Roberts will liaise with Trevor Munro about promoting the Woodlands camp and Katy Sara will liaise with Andy and Nigel regarding the other 2 events.

MeetingsAll ADCs, SLs and ASLs had been invited to attend the meeting however only 6 had been able to attend with only 9 apologies.

Katy explained that she is in the process of splitting the County into Clusters of Districts (this doesnít have an impact on Districts, simply makes it easier to manage) and has advertised for Deputies to work with the DCs in these areas which would offer more local support to ADCs and share best practice, with an all SL meeting once or twice a year for everyone to meet. (There was a discussion about what this meeting might look like Ė with suggestions for a local reunion camp for leaders to get together.)

Katy will speak to the DCs about how they can encourage communications between themselves and other Districts so that leaders know what is available and taking place is.

It was agreed that no further meetings would be booked.

ACC Scouts Role
This role is still vacant and Katy encouraged those present to consider who might be interested in taking on the role and to get in touch. The role isnít about organising events, but about supporting ADCs and their leaders to continue to deliver great scouting in Devon.
