Name: Nathan Craig

When did you get involved with Scouting?

I started Scouting when I was 6 as a Beaver Scout with the grey tracksuits (They were awesome). That was 17 almost 18 years ago and started my Scouting journey in Plymouth.

Why did you take on the role of County Youth Commissioner?

I took on the role of County Youth Commissioner because I know that is role can make a positive impact on the Scouting experience of all young people in Devon. The role allows me to give back to Scouting in a way which is easily manageable and there is always something new to get my head around.

What would you like to achieve in the next year?

In the next year my main aim is to have District Youth Commissioners playing an important role in shaping Youth Shaped Scouting on a local level. As well I would like to get more young people of all ages involved in the planning and running of County wide events.

What motivates you in your role?

Knowing that I can make a real difference and a positive change to Scouting in Devon motivates me to be County Youth Commissioner. I may not see the benefits straightaway but I know that there is still a long way to go.

Which goes first on a Scone Jam or Cream?

Hiking or Kayaking?

Coffee or Tea?

What would you like to be remembered for once leaving the role?

I would like to be remembered for making a positive contribution to what Youth Shaped Scouting means in Devon. As well as getting more young people involved in shaping their own Scouting adventure to carry on into a wide variety of adult roles.
